Thanks To

Ÿ         Julie Kent, Caroline Probert and Ros Bateman for preparing tonight’s refreshments and to those who set up the hall.

Don’t Forget…

This evening the speaker is Michael Marriott from David Austin Roses.

If you have any expenditure claims, please present them to the treasurer, Lyn Jones, as soon as possible as the end of the financial year is getting close.

Remember, we are collecting your “Let’s Grow” Morrisons vouchers to hand in to help Orleton School.  These must be handed in tonight or to the school by as soon as possible.  The vouchers are only being issued until 1st November.

New Members

We welcome new members who have joined the club in Septemberand October: Ann Turtle, Geraldine & Ivor Williams, David & Sally Small, all from Orleton, as well as Benita Eggleton from Kingsland.

New Committee Member

The Committee has co-opted Martin Page as a new committee member.  We welcome him to his new role.

Titley Lunch

The Club annual Sunday lunch at Titley is on November 1st.  Please hand your forms in to Shelley Choat this evening together with your payment.  If you have forgotten all about it and would like to join in the event, it is not too late, just have a word with Shelley.  Remember, guests are very welcome

Seed Order

If you have not yet picked up your seed and potato catalogues, they are available this evening.  Also, for those who have already picked up a catalogue, order forms and terms and conditions are also available.

The seed company is getting later distributing their stationery and we have decided that your order forms need not be in until the AGM – December 15th.  We are planning to have the collection of your seed orders at the January meeting.

T&M Young Plants have also agreed to give us discount on their plant catalogues; if the order is over £80 and up to £200, we will receive 10%, £200 to £300 - 12 ½% and over £300 - 15%.  The drawback is that the orders will have to be placed through Monica and sent to her address.  However, if when the catalogues come out, anyone is interested, please let Monica know.

August Show 2010

We know – it seems ages away!  But those of you who enter the Floral Art classes may like to consider following classes for 2010 when completing your seed order.

Artist’s Palette      (Beginners)

Storm in a (tea) cup       (No more than 6”- any suitable sized cup allowed)

Going for Gold     (Accessories allowed)

Flowers for the Kitchen Table   (Garden flowers only)

Modern Approach

The committee have also decided on the photography class title for August 2010:

“Borders”

AGM December 15th

There are vacancies on the committee if you would like to be part of our friendly and lively team.  Nomination forms are available from Sue Brown, and should be sent to the Monica Todd by 2nd December (or handed, this evening, to any other current committee member).  We meet over tea and biscuits on a Monday morning, once a month, generally the week preceding the club meetings.

The Minutes of Last Year’s AGM are on the web (under Members' pages) and on the notice board this month and next month.

Rotas

We are circulating next year’s rotas for setting up and for refreshments this evening.  You will note that we are asking whoever volunteers to prepare the refreshments, to also supply milk and biscuits.  The cost will be reimbursed up to a total of £3.00.

Next Meeting

November 24th

The speaker is Chris Beardshaw.

Refreshments – Pat Robertson, Helen & Viv Webb
Setting up – Ian Robertson

We are still looking for volunteers to make cakes, help set up the hall and act as Stewards - please see Sue Brown
